Shady Hammock Baptist Church Lake
Wales, Florida | |
| We realize that selecting a
church home is a major decision.
Finding a place where you can express your faith while feeling
comfortable, valued and welcomed is one of the most important choices
you’ll ever face. We
anticipate that as you consider your options, you’ll have questions. While we probably can’t answer all
of your questions, the following are a few of the more commonly asked
questions we’ve been asked.
We hope you’ll find these pages helpful. And if you don’t find an answer to
your question, drop us an e-mail or give us a call. We’d love the opportunity to
respond to whatever questions are on your mind. (Suggestions
invited)
Who attends SHBC? Individuals from all
backgrounds and age groups.
While in recent years, we’ve experienced our strongest growth in
the “retirement” bracket, SHBC remains committed to serving individuals of
all ages and socio-economic backgrounds. At SHBC, every person counts! Does SHBC have a “dress code?”
No! Our greatest concern is that you
feel comfortable in whatever attire you may choose. In fact, during our warmer summer
months, we encourage casual attire. Where is SHBC located? Shady Hammock Baptist
Church is located on the north side of route 60, near the Kissimee
River. Our
address is 1155 Shady Oak Camp Street off State Road 60. (Please see our
Map and Directions button, or click on directions here). What makes SHBC unique?
SHBC is unique in that our attendance
varies with seasonal community fluctuations. Our congregation,
in this smaller
community, has tremendous opportunities to serve.
In fact, there are only a handful of congregations our size located
in smaller communities around the U.S., with such diverse ministry possibilities.
Remember though, you are still
very much needed, and opportunities are here for serving our Lord.
SHBC works hard to give
you a feeling of genuine welcome, regardless of the length of your stay
with us. We truly believe we are the little Church that makes a big
difference. What do I have to do to join SHBC? If by “joining”, you mean attending, nothing at all. Everyone is welcome at SHBC. But if by “joining” you mean formalized membership, then very little is asked or required of you to become a member of SHBC. You may join by Baptism or Statement. Please ask about our dual membership accomodation! How long has SHBC been
around?
We are proud to tell
folk's we have accomplished what you will see and feel here in only
fourteen
years. But don't worry, we do not act our
age!” While we celebrate and
appreciate our past, we keep an eye on the future, always on the lookout
for better ways to serve. Who serves on SHBC’s staff? At SHBC, we have been
both fortunate and blessed to be staffed from within..
Adult, youth, fellowship, office, and music are only a few of the
positions served by our staff members. The real staff at
SHBC includes volunteers who faithfully serve on a weekly
basis. You are encouraged to offer your services, we most certainly
have a need you can help fill! Does SHBC offer counseling? We have pastoral team
members who are available to talk and pray with you as requested. When problems need professional
intervention or assistance, we can work closely with several professional
agencies and groups which can offer more specialized assistance. What does SHBC believe? All of our beliefs are
based on the Bible. Far from
seeing the Bible as an outdated piece of ancient literature, we work hard
at applying the Bible to real life situations and experiences. We believe that the Bible
addresses the practical issues of life that we face everyday. Whether you have questions about
raising children, spending money, choosing values or handling
relationships, we believe that God has the answers for your life. What kinds of teaching
does SHBC provide?
AT SHBC we work hard to
make sure that our teaching meets three criteria. Our teaching is designed to be
interesting, relevant and Biblical. In other words, we want to
keep you awake, speak to your life and listen to God’s voice. How can I get in touch with SHBC? Feel free to call us at (863) 692-1022 or just drop us an e-mail. We’d love the chance to answer your questions and serve your needs. | ||
